I began creating portraits to capture the diversity of the individuals around me. The more I create, the more I am influenced by the way experiences shape each individual. I create black and white pencil drawings because of how the simplicity of the medium can capture something as complex as an individual’s personality and emotion.
Each portrait is drawn freehand from a photograph. My process begins with contour lines and a multitude of pencil values. Black and white colored pencils and paint pens are then added to intensify the depth of each individual.
Diversity continues to inspire me.
